Friday 1st April – walk ***** – High tide, rough sea Felixstowe prom walk – snow to sunny periods:)

Wow what an amazing day, we woke to snow flurries and very cold, our cats, the lovely Benny and Rue were not impressed and soon covered the house in wet footprints, in and out all the time! They were famous once again as for the second they were featured in the local papers in the pet section, being pet of the day. I learned on Facebook that last nights high tide had caused havoc amongst the beach huts at the Manor end and was tempted to head down with my camera but was toasty I bed with the electric blanket on so decided to wait until high water, just before one. The mornings weather continued to be poor with a mix of rain, sleet and snow but around lunch time we started to see some sunshine, with Mag on the phone to an old friend I set off for the seafront at 12.20 and made it to the prom before Mag caught up:) We then had the most amazing stroll along the prom towards the Manor, feeling warm as sheltered from the strong northery winds but the sea was amazing with huge waves breaking over the groynes hitting the prom and shooting into the air and then rushing towards the garden wall or hitting the beach hut! There was no spray because of the direction of the wind so you could take loads of pics without getting your camera wet and the sky was wonderful, a mix of dark clouds and blue, just perfect! The waves were as high as the pier and we managed to keep our feet dry for a bit but were soon caught out and got very wet feet! We ended up in the flooded gardens but returned to the prom at the toilets where the old windsurfing hut used to be where the beach huts had been moved by the power of the waves and there was a crowd watching the action. We meet up with fellow Felixstowe photographer Alan Boyle who was just as wet as us, we were all completely bonkers but it was well worth the wet feet to see and capture this amazing sight, it made you feel good to be alive:) We stayed for ages watching the beach huts getting a battering, Mag emptied the water from her boot, she was wet up to her thighs now and we decided to walk back through Langer park stopping to buy the EADT for the cat pic. We squelched through the park to Lidl to buy some logs but sadly they were sold out, but I checked the Star and discovered I had two pics in there, so a great stat to the month. Mag was cold by the time we got home so quickly got into the shower, all the wet clothes in the washing machine we had some warming soup and I sorted out my pics, sadly I did not get one on the local weather this evening:( What a great day – loved it – well worth the wet feet!!!!
